BDO South Africa is seeking two skilled Intermediate Accountants to join our Business Services Outsourcing team. The successful candidates will be responsible for managing and maintaining a diverse portfolio of monthly and annual accounting clients, specifically within a Netherlands portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a strong background in accounting with a keen interest in preparing financial records from initial data to trial balance.
  • Exhibit proficiency in utilizing various cloud-based accounting platforms, showcasing adaptability in generating financial records online.
  • Manage an independent client portfolio, ensuring effective onboarding, communication, and interaction throughout the accounting process until completion.
  • Work autonomously with minimal supervision to deliver accounting services for multiple clients.
  • Engage in international projects and collaborate with foreign clients.
  • Possess a solid understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and IFRS for Small- and Medium-sized Entities (IFRS for SMEs).
  • Prepare annual financial statements and demonstrate familiarity with the tools necessary for their preparation.
  • Conduct tax computations for various entities, including companies, close corporations, and trusts.
  • Propose journal entries to clients through senior management.
  • Exhibit self-discipline and adhere to standard operating procedures.
  • Manage time effectively, ensuring personal schedules align with client deadlines and deliverables.
  • Report progress to supervisors and provide efficient updates on engagement status.
  • Oversee work in progress (WIP) and manage budgets for engagements.

Additional Skills:

  • Experience with Compilation Engagements in accordance with ISRS 4410.
  • Familiarity with Independent Review Engagements as per ISRE 2400.
  • Knowledge of Accounting Officer Engagements under the Close Corporations Act.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the position.
