Data Definer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Definer to join our team at Black Swan Data. In this role, you will be responsible for defining and refining our datasets to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality and delivery.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analytics and research, with experience in working with large datasets and identifying trends and patterns. You will be a skilled communicator, able to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and create robust category datasets for use in analysis and reporting.
  • Manage taxonomy curation and improvement for structured social datasets.
  • Ensure datasets across domains are fully maintained and published each month.
  • Develop and implement data-led quantitative analysis to extract insights from sizeable datasets.
  • Build an understanding of our domains and tie together trends in datasets to broader industry trends.
  • Support client conversations and liaise with client teams to provide insight on dataset processes and category definitions.

Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency in English and Japanese language.
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant data analytics related certification.
  • 2-4 years working experience in quantitative research/analytics or a SaaS product role.
  • Real-world experience defining research questions, gathering and analyzing data, and communicating results in a business or research setting.
  • Comfortable applying basic quantitative analytics techniques to data and experience with analyzing and interpreting digital data sources such as social media.
  • Able to think critically about processes and solve problems through creating a clear hypothesis and plan of action.
