Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Service Technician to join our team in Pinetown. As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for executing and supporting inspections, repairs, modernizations, and installations on harbor cranes and related components and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Installs, inspects, repairs, services, and upgrades equipment according to instructions.
  2. Perform scheduled maintenance on customer installations to ensure that equipment continues to perform reliably.
  3. Maintains accurate service records so that the performance of equipment can be monitored.
  4. Acts as the day-to-day interface with customers, reports faults and findings, and makes recommendations.
  5. Generates sales leads and operative quoting to the company through daily work and interaction with the customer.
  6. Ensures accurate and timely administration of relevant documentation such as service or inspection reports, timesheets, and orders.
  7. Communicates information on equipment problems or potential enhancements timeously to the relevant persons.
  8. Compiles and maintains safety files as required as per regulatory, compliance, and customer requirements.
  9. Performs all prescribed safety procedures, point of work risk assessment at every job and site.
  10. Adheres to safety procedures both on the company and customer premises wherever work is conducted.
  11. Maintains general housekeeping.
  12. To be fully aware of and comply with current responsibilities and requirements of the relevant OHS Acts, Regulations, and applicable company Policies/Procedures.
  13. To ensure compliance with the IMS, by supporting the maintenance of all Quality System procedures, administration of the internal Audit programme, corrective actions, and customer feedback registers.
  14. Reports all hazards, incidents, and injuries in accordance with legislation and company reporting procedures.
  15. Participates in programs and assessments to improve health and safety in the workplace.
  16. Executes all functions in line with the applicable delegation of authority.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 (NQF level 4) or related trade qualification
  • Qualified Artisan
  • Valid drivers license
  • 3-5 years work experience in a similar environment
  • Read blueprints, schematics, and understand technical data
  • Use hand tools and trade type tools
  • Experience on harbor cranes
  • Experience on Invertor Drives and PLCs
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and at heights
  • Must be able to travel locally and outside SA for operational requirements
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Thinks in terms of profit and loss
  • Anticipates and responds to the needs of customers
  • Takes responsibility and drives performance
  • Makes timely, well-informed, effective decisions
