Job Description

The Senior Internal Auditor will be responsible for providing assurance to management and stakeholders over the effectiveness of controls mitigating current and evolving risks.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Must at all times be fully conversant with applicable legislation, regulations, notices directives, and rules.
  • Ensure that all regulatory and internal reporting requirements have been adhered to.
  • Formulate audit strategies and plans.
  • Develop annual or rolling risk assessment and audit strategies.
  • Originate audit manual and implement strategies.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Review business process plans and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Review control procedures over financial information reporting.
  • Review strategic plans, budgets, and financial forecasts.
  • Review departmental processes and workflows.
  • Review infrastructure systems and administration systems.
  • Ensure knowledge of and compliance with the Institute of Internal Auditors' Code of Ethics.
  • Provide advice on internal control to management.
  • Report progress to the Audit Committee and management.
  • Conduct substantive monitoring of compliance functions.
  • Establish an expert working knowledge of audit procedures and control techniques.
  • Audit work must be performed in compliance with internal audit policies.
  • Ensure findings are documented and reported to executive management immediately.
  • Identify significant control weaknesses and communicate these weaknesses to management.
  • Document results of audit work in accordance with audit department standards.
  • Contribute to year-end financial audits with external auditors.
  • Perform financial, compliance, IT, and operational internal audits.
