Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Millwright / Toolmaker Artisan to join our team at Prudent HR Solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing facilities, performing routine maintenance tasks, and providing technical expertise to resolve complex issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular safety checks and perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and minimize downtime.
  • Proactive Maintenance: Identify potential maintenance needs and address them proactively to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Facilities and Plant Upkeep: Manage and schedule regular equipment maintenance, ensure adherence to '5S' processes, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Welding and Fabrication: Perform welding and fabrication tasks as required, using various techniques and materials.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance, and generate reports as needed.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other production departments to monitor equipment performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide technical expertise to resolve complex issues.
  • Tool and Consumable Management: Manage and control the replenishment of tools and consumables, ensuring that the necessary resources are available to support maintenance activities.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Serve as a mentor to new employees, provide guidance and support, and lead by example to promote a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Performance Management: Participate in performance management processes, including robust review processes, time and attendance management, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Occupational Health and Safety: Adhere to and enforce safety regulations, report safety hazards and incidents, and promote a culture of safety and well-being.
Requirements
  • Education: Minimum Grade 12/Matric, National Senior Certificate (Taking and reading measurements)
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in repair and maintenance operations, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical skills and knowledge of best practices in maintenance procedures and protocols
  • Qualifications: Mechanical or Equivalent Technical Qualification (Advantageous), Trade tested (Highly advantageous)
  • Personal Qualities: Proven leadership skills, ability to effectively manage a team, excellent organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail
  • Physical and Medical Requirements: Physically and medically fit, valid driver's license, and willing to work flexible hours and off-site as needed
