About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Safety Officer to join our team at The Vine Partners. As a key member of our safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and promoting a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in conducting regular safety inspections of the workplace to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement safety procedures, policies, and guidelines in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct safety training sessions for employees on topics such as hazard identification, emergency procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
  • Monitor and ensure the proper use and maintenance of safety equipment and facilities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address safety concerns and implement corrective measures.
  • Maintain safety records and documentation, including incident reports, inspection logs, and training records.
  • Stay updated on relevant safety regulations and industry best practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in safety meetings and committees to contribute ideas and recommendations for enhancing workplace safety.
Requirements
  • Essential Matric qualification
  • Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field - SAMTRAC
  • Registered with SACPCMP – NON-NEGOTIABLE
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and standards
  • Strong attention to detail and observation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities
  • Prior experience in a similar role or industry is an advantage
  • Capacity to work well under pressure
  • Valid driver's license
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred
