About the Role

This senior leader will be responsible for accurate financial reporting and forecasting for all income tax matters. They will manage reporting to the Head of Group Tax and oversee income tax financial statement audits. The ideal candidate will have expertise in tax technical modeling and analysis for possible transactions, corporate transfer pricing, tax accounting method optimization, dividend planning, tax protection agreements, and proposed law changes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement tax forecasting strategies, including baseline QFR/5yr BPs and modeling overlays.
  • Lead the determination of the company's US tax provision, including financial statement audit over income taxes.
  • Collaborate with the Tax Compliance team to ensure income tax returns align with forecast/financial statement positions and implement strategies to minimize return to provision adjustments.
  • Prepare technical memoranda supporting key income tax reporting positions.
  • Support the strategy and management of all material income tax audits, including determination and measurement of reserves.
  • Oversee strategic tax planning, including the modeling of the impact on all federal, state, REIT, tax reserve, debt, and partner tax covenants.
  • Assess the impact of material proposed law changes on the company's income tax profile.
  • Lead tax accounting method and credit projects to ensure accurate forecast and reporting of tax benefits.
  • Develop and implement dividend and withholding strategies for all US REITs.
  • Manage all US transfer pricing exercises.
  • Oversee tax protection agreements and tax indemnifications provided to or by the company.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to anticipate issues, work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and lead meetings to produce results.
  • Strong prioritization and resource management skills, including external advisors.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to manage up and present information in a timely and useful way.
  • Ability to provide guidance to staff and contribute to their tax technical development.
  • Curiosity and ability to develop and implement innovative action plans.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and confidence in dealing with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in a Real Estate Tax environment, with excellent tax technical skills and understanding of US GAAP and IFRS.
  • MBT and/or CPA (inactive is ok), with experience in a BIG 4 or large publicly traded environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral/written communication skills, negotiation skills, and concise grammatical skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects, with strong follow-through skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and dynamic environment.

Exempt

$182,000 – $240,000 + Discretionary Annual Bonus
