Job Title: Process Engineer

Tronox is seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to join our team at Namakwa Sands, Smelter (Saldanha), Western Cape. As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for daily technical support and short-term technical improvement for your area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct plant health assessments and review findings with the production team.
  • Conduct routine production reconciliation and report on process performance.
  • Ensure quality performance meets product and customer specifications.
  • Review quality performance and share findings with the production team.
  • Manage grade change process.
  • Provide production support to the S&OP process.
  • Manage investigations following significant incidents and production excursions.
  • Assist with HAZOP and PHR studies.
  • Assist with the generation of statutory environmental reports.
  • Provide DCS process control support.
  • Short-term process optimization.
  • Initiate and deliver process and plant improvements.
  • Champion technology transfer to site.
  • Provide support for OE and CoE initiatives.
  • Assist production and maintenance teams with troubleshooting.
  • Provide mentoring for DCS operators and operations trainers on efficient plant operation.
  • Provide specific operating guidelines for operations trainers to develop and deliver standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure technical documentation is correct and up-to-date.
  • General administrative tasks.
Requirements:
  • BEng/MetEng, BTech Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering Discipline.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a Metallurgical Plant/Operating within a Heavy Industry.
  • Computer literate – MS Office and MS Projects.
  • Code B driver's license.
