In today's dynamic marketplace, a significant portion of products sold through Amazon's platforms comes from independent vendors, primarily small- and medium-sized enterprises. This model offers a wide array of items, competitive pricing, and exceptional convenience for consumers.

The Amazon South Africa Marketplace Team is on the lookout for a skilled Business Development Manager to serve as a key player in our third-party business initiatives.

As a Business Development Manager, your role will be pivotal in enhancing our tools, processes, and best practices. You will take charge of establishing and nurturing relationships with essential external partners, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to devise and present compelling Amazon solutions that not only meet but exceed customer expectations.

Your success will be measured by your ability to collaborate with these stakeholders, providing valuable business insights, conducting training sessions, and pinpointing growth opportunities to execute an effective expansion strategy.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strategic mindset regarding business, product, and e-commerce challenges, along with the capability to articulate and convey persuasive value propositions to sellers of varying sizes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Discover new market segments and engage with strategic partners to deliver top-tier service.
  • Maintain strong engagement levels with potential partners while proactively addressing their challenges. Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
  • Lead complex projects or initiatives aimed at alleviating seller pain points and enhancing their experience.
  • Effectively communicate ideas in both verbal and written formats to diverse audiences, including crafting narratives, business cases, and other strategic documents.
  • Establish trusted relationships with internal teams, including sales, account management, business intelligence, and product development.
  • Oversee external partnerships and negotiate service agreements.
  • Formulate and execute business strategies.
  • Monitor and report on performance metrics to achieve productivity and seller satisfaction goals.
Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in business development, partnership management, or sourcing new business.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Project management capabilities, including regular updates, program reviews, and process audits.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to quickly establish credibility with external partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating with global technology and business teams.
  • Demonstrated willingness to take initiative and execute tasks effectively.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide actionable business recommendations.
  • Experience navigating ambiguous environments with shifting priorities.
  • Familiarity with SQL.
