At RELX, we are committed to advancing science and improving health outcomes for the benefit of society. As a Senior Editor for our new online-only gold open access journal, The Lancet Regional Health, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the creation and publication of high-quality content.

The Lancet Regional Health - Africa will be the latest addition to our suite of open access general medical journals, focusing on publishing evidence-based research to improve health outcomes. As an in-house Senior Editor, you will take ownership of overseeing submissions, performing quality peer review, and building relationships with experts in the community to disseminate practice-changing results.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Editor with a strong background in editorial management, a good understanding of all aspects of the editorial process, and the ability to engage, influence, and build relationships with external stakeholders. If you have a Medical Degree or a PhD in a related subject field, extensive editorial experience at Editor or senior level, and excellent organizational skills, we encourage you to apply.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing peer review of high-quality research papers, commissioning authors, developing and maintaining relationships with the regional health community, attending conferences and events, writing editorials, and helping develop new initiatives for future development of the journal.

  • Develop and implement editorial strategies to ensure the successful production of new and engaging articles
  • Maintain a strong network of contacts within the regional health community to attract high-quality research for the journal
  • Attend conferences and events to represent the journal and stay up-to-date with current developments in regional health
  • Write editorials and other content for the journal as required
