The Lancet Regional Health - Africa is dedicated to improving health outcomes by advancing the research agenda, advocating for equal access to quality healthcare for all, and fostering the advancement of clinical practice and health policy. As our Editor-in-Chief, you will play a key role in shaping the direction of our journal and contributing to this mission. We are seeking an individual with expertise in developing and launching online-only gold open access journals, as well as experience in managing the day-to-day editorial handling of papers and peer-review. Direct line management of one Senior Editor is also a requirement, along with developing and maintaining relationships with the regional health community, attending conferences and events, and writing editorials and other content.

We require a strong understanding of biological and medical sciences, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to engage, influence, and build relationships with stakeholders. A Medical Degree in a relevant discipline or a PhD in a related subject field is necessary, as well as extensive editorial experience at Editor or other senior level. Fluency in English is essential, and proficiency in IT systems, including MS Office, is also required.
