Stock Controller Job Description

Principal Cl Placements is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Stock Controller to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and security of our inventory, as well as overseeing the procurement of raw materials and consumables.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the accuracy and security of inventory, including receipting of raw materials and consumable items.
  • Drive continual improvement of inventory management processes, including monitoring raw materials and finished goods.
  • Lead the monthly physical inventory counts, investigating variances and formulating corrective action.
Procurement and Supply Chain:
  • Approve all purchases of raw materials and consumables used in the production process.
  • Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and source new suppliers.
  • Regularly review supplier rates and research the market for benchmarking.
  • Work with the ERP system Microsoft 365 Dynamics Business Central to track inventory levels, set reorder points, manage purchase orders, and generate reports.
Warehousing and Inventory Management:
  • Work closely with production planning to ensure that picking slips for raw materials and consumables are issued timely and stock is ready for use.
  • Implement strict procedures and safeguards to ensure accurate and complete issuing of stock is achieved in a timely manner.
Day-to-Day Operations:
  • Lead the team by example to set and sustain high standards of integrity and performance.
  • Maintain a disciplined environment.
  • Assist the operations and financial managers in reporting.
  • Facilitate good communication between the team and internal and external parties.
  • Supply other departments with accurate and relevant information and analysis to be used in their decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant field.
  • 3 years of experience in stock control in a manufacturing field.
  • Skilled in ensuring accuracy and security of all inventory classes and maintaining accurate records of inventory movement.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls in the inventory cycle.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Afrikaans, with the ability to liaise with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent conflict management skills, together with strong team collaboration skills across all disciplines and functions.
  • Experience working with an ERP system.
  • MS Excel proficiency at an intermediate level.
