Driver Trainer Job Description

At Boardroom Appointments, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Driver Trainer to join our team. As a Driver Trainer, you will be responsible for assessing new and existing drivers, conducting training sessions, and ensuring that training schedules are communicated and adhered to.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess new and existing drivers to ensure they meet the required standards.
  • Conduct training sessions on soft skills and lifting equipment according to drawn schedules.
  • Communicate and ensure adherence to training schedules for both soft skills and lifting equipment.
  • Train and assess drivers on DTA facilitated and accredited courses through theoretical and practical training.
  • Conduct coaching sessions with drivers to improve competency.
  • Conduct driver-on-route assessments to ensure drivers are meeting the required standards.
  • Ensure drivers' licenses and PrDP are up-to-date and valid.
  • Maintain accurate attendance registers and driver files on the learner management system.
  • Provide feedback to stakeholders on driver assessments.
  • Capture and update data on internal systems.
  • Facilitate training interventions linked to TETA Scope.
  • Assess learners fairly, consistently, and accurately according to TETA requirements.
  • Use clear and understandable language and provide support where needed.
  • Conduct site audits and route inspections to ensure vehicles are up to standard.
  • Assist with vehicle dispatching and complete accredited training material according to TETA regulations.
  • Moderate internal assessments and maintain professional conduct.
  • Ensure adherence to company Standard Operating Procedures and maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure Health and Safety standards are maintained.
  • Capture and share training done with the DTA training administrator.
  • Report concerns and risks to the DTA manager.
  • Maintain up-to-date accreditation for Assessors and Moderators.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Code EC driver's license with valid PDP.
  • Proven experience as a driving instructor.
  • Clear driving record.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Operating rigid light vehicle unit standard.
  • Dangerous goods unit standard.
  • Warehouse lifting equipment unit standard.
  • Firefighting unit standard.
