Job Title: Underwriting Specialist

About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Underwriting Specialist to join our team. As an Underwriting Specialist, you'll be responsible for evaluating and verifying applicant information to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and mitigate risk. This includes assessing the applicant's identity and any potential risks associated with opening the account.

You'll be a key player in ensuring that our bank maintains a secure and compliant customer base. Your expertise will help us deliver a seamless and efficient customer experience, driving positive conversion and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support to our banking customers, ensuring a warm and clear experience.
  • Manage your attendance, timekeeping, and personal effectiveness to maintain required SLAs and KPIs.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our processes and products, becoming a subject matter expert over time.
  • Ensure weekly tasks and metrics are achieved, collaborating with the team to drive customer service delivery in an omni-channel environment.
  • Deliver a service that drives positive conversion while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Provide feedback that leads to the implementation of ideas to improve internal processes.
  • Underwrite applications and provide customer feedback to move through to an approved bank account.
  • Understand and comply with rules and regulations set out by Lula and our Alliance Banking partner.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships by keeping customers informed of progress or action taken regarding their applications, queries, and requests.
  • Educate customers on self-service, digital functionality, and features.
  • Prevent fraud and losses by adhering to mandates, customer, and transaction authentication procedures and policies.
  • Engage and contribute to projects that enhance business value within the underwriting department and CX Team.
  • Represent and live the values, culture, and brand of Lula.
Requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to operate independently.
  • Hands-on team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to remain calm under immense pressure and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Financial insight and understanding of the elements of a financial business and product.
  • Sustaining customer satisfaction and resilience.
  • 4+ years' banking experience, with 4+ years' experience working in a customer support role within financial/banking services, with a focus on underwriting.
  • Exposure to Small Business Service (SME) customers would be an advantage.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and multi-tasking skill capabilities.
  • Experience in delivering great customer service that drives quality and resolution.
  • Experience in an omni-channel customer service environment.
