Academic Pharmacist

The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating the acquisition of knowledge and skills by undergraduate pharmacy students to enable them to function effectively within the field of Pharmacy.

The candidate will also be expected to conduct and lead research, facilitate the acquisition of research knowledge and skills amongst undergraduate and postgraduate students, and contribute to community engagement and the core functions of the University.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitating learning, teaching, and work-integrated learning in Pharmacy, particularly Clinical Pharmacy.
• Development of theoretical and practical learning material in Clinical Pharmacy.
• Conducting, supervising, and publishing research in Clinical Pharmacy.
• Involvement in short learning programs in the department.
• Involvement in community engagement programs.
• Performing other administrative duties as designated by the Head of the Department.

Requirements:

• Masters degree in Clinical Pharmacy (Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacology will be considered).
• At least two years of experience lecturing Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacology to undergraduate pharmacy students or one year of experience lecturing Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacology to undergraduate pharmacy students and one year of working experience in a clinical environment.
• Professional registration as a practicing Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council is mandatory.

Added Advantages:

• Experience in programme and module development.
• Current and/or previous involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate research supervision.
