Job Overview

HR Genie is seeking a highly skilled and organized Administrative Assistant to join our team at the Department of Human Movement Science. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional administrative support to the Head of Department and ensuring the efficient functioning of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide secretarial support to the Head of Department, including preparation and organization of meetings, events, and correspondence.
  • Manage general office operations, including financial transactions, procurement, and human resource processes.
  • Execute university processes for academic activities, including marks and assessment criteria loading on ITS, liaison with the assessment office, and booking lecture and assessment venues.
  • Serve as a liaison by preparing and disseminating email, written, and telephonic correspondence to staff, students, and stakeholders.
  • Provide information to relevant stakeholders for the departmental website and other media reporting.

Requirements

  • Matric PLUS a completed one-year diploma in Secretarial/ Office Management / Communication/ Administration or equivalent.
  • Completed two years' work experience in a secretarial or administrative assistant position at a Higher Education Institution.
  • Experience in working with ITS, Moodle, Ulwazi, or a related academic online programme used at a Higher Education Institution.

Additional Information

The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, a professional dress code, and the ability to manage time effectively under pressure. A salary of $50,000 per annum is offered, based on experience and qualifications.
