Accounting Specialist Opportunity in Cape Town

We are seeking an experienced Qualified Accountant to join our team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and complete accounting records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Filing and maintaining supplier invoices, bank statements, and other financial documents in a secure and organized manner.
  • Processing cashbooks and journals on Pastel to Trial Balance, ensuring seamless financial reporting.
  • Performing supplier and customer account processing and reconciliations, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.
  • Preparing month-end journals, guaranteeing accurate financial reporting and adherence to deadlines.
  • CALCULATED SALARY R 500,000 - R 700,000 per annum, based on experience, for this exciting opportunity in Cape Town.
  • Calculating VAT and preparing VAT returns, ensuring timely submissions and minimal errors.
  • Capturing internet banking payments (EFTs) and maintaining the fixed asset register, including calculation of depreciation.
  • Capturing bank statements and performing bank reconciliations, ensuring accurate records and minimal discrepancies.
  • Liaising with auditors and handling SARS submissions (EMP201, IRP6), providing necessary documentation and information.
  • Completing ad hoc tasks and requests as required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Competencies:

Knowledge:

  • Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or similar Accounting Degree/Diploma.
  • 3-4 years of working experience in an accounting or audit environment, with a proven track record of success.
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Insurance Industry experience is highly valued but not essential.
  • Proficiency in Pastel Partner and Excel is non-negotiable.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, with a focus on delivering results-oriented outcomes.
