Key Responsibilities
  • Fibre Site Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on fibre sites and links, including splicing, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Accurately document and report on work completed, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Project and Safety Documentation: Maintain up-to-date project and safety documentation, including fibre routes and hub sites.
  • Fault Location and Resolution: Locate faults and mobilize resources to resolve issues within minimal time.
  • Link Restoration: Restore fibre links within 4 hours or less, depending on criticality.
Requirements
  • Education: Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Certification: CFOT Certification or equivalent.
  • Technical Background: Competent technical background within the telecommunications trade.
  • Experience: 3+ years of fibre optic splicing experience, with preference given to those with additional experience or FTTx project experience.
  • Skills: Proficient in fibre cable termination with connectors, well-versed in fusion splicing machine technique, and strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, and isolation. They will also be required to work in a physically demanding atmosphere, including carrying, raising, and climbing ladders, and handling heavy equipment.
