Financial Operations Specialist

HR Genie is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Operations Specialist to join their team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will handle day-to-day financial transactions, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure the smooth operation of the finance department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and manage financial records, including ledgers and journals, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Reconcile bank statements and manage accounts payable/receivable to optimize cash flow.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and tax filings in accordance with South African tax laws and regulations.
  • Process payroll and ensure compliance with financial regulations to minimize errors and delays.
  • Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting to inform business decisions.
  • Support the preparation of monthly financial reports to provide insights into financial performance.
Required Skills:
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping practices and financial principles to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and MS Excel to streamline financial operations.
  • Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple financial tasks.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently to ensure timely completion of financial tasks.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills to resolve financial issues and provide insights to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field to provide a solid foundation in financial principles.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a corporate environment, to demonstrate expertise in financial operations.
  • Knowledge of South African tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance with tax requirements.
  • Experience with payroll processing and VAT submissions to optimize financial operations.
  • Previous experience in the insurance or global financial services industry will be advantageous to bring relevant expertise to the role.
