Job Title: Group Purchasing Manager

Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial Finance, the Group Purchasing Manager is responsible for strategically sourcing and managing procurement to optimize costs, ensure quality, and support the company's growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance of supplier onboarding process
  • Conduct thorough due diligence of suppliers and service providers to mitigate risks
  • Optimize procure-to-pay processes, including spend management software, PO cycles, and invoice administration
  • Develop and implement effective blanket purchase orders for recurring spend
  • Collaborate with the finance team to provide monthly reports on open purchase orders and ensure accurate accruals and prepayments
  • Negotiate 30-day payment terms with suppliers to improve treasury cash reserves
  • Assess the financial viability of potential suppliers using financial metrics, such as ROI and Acid Test Ratios
  • Prepare B-BBEE data for preferential procurement elements
  • Identify cost savings opportunities and contract renegotiations through top spend supplier reports
  • Manage, track, and report on RFI, RFQ, and RFP group processes
  • Enhance procurement process efficiency and effectiveness through technology solutions, standardization, and supplier collaboration
  • Ensure full compliance with internal procedures and policies, as well as regulatory and legal requirements
  • Lead team performance through clear performance metrics and KPIs
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or Advanced Diploma
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Procurement, CIPS certified – Level 5/6
  • Experience in a similar role within a Procurement and Purchasing department, preferably in a FinTech or Financial industry sector
  • Experience with Procure-to-Pay software, preferably Fraxion
  • Accounts payable administration experience
  • Proven experience in Procurement in African countries
  • Proven contract negotiation experience
  • Risk mitigation processes and tracking
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Cost Management, analyzing expenses throughout the procurement process
  • Sustainability procurement practices experience
  • B-BBEE experience – Preferential procurement, Supplier and Enterprise Development
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and supplier onboarding due diligence processes – AML
  • Ability to manage full Request for Proposal processes and scorecard scoring, tracking, and reporting
  • Experience and understanding of compliance policies, practices, and regulations in Africa
