Job Description

We require a skilled Locum Doctor to assist our team over the weekend. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing rehabilitation patients, addressing long-term geriatric needs, and collaborating closely with our team of experts in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, social work, dietetics, and nursing staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Upon patient admission, conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' medical conditions, including physical examinations, review of medical history, and diagnostic tests to develop appropriate care plans.
  2. Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific needs, including medication management, therapy, and other interventions aimed at improving health outcomes.
  3. Closely monitor patients' progress, evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans, and make adjustments as necessary to optimise outcomes.
  4. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including nurses, therapists, social workers, and specialists, to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of treatment.
  5. Provide patients and their families with information about their medical conditions, treatment options, and self-care techniques to promote health and prevent complications.
  6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries on Healthware (electronic platform).
  7. Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the delivery of sub-acute care services.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)
  • Experience and Knowledge: Proven post-community service, experience in internal medicine, family medicine, geriatrics, palliative care beneficial.
  • Skills and Attributes: Medical Expertise, Good Critical Thinking Skills, Ethical Practice, Team Collaboration, Meticulous attention to detail, Strong Communication Skills, Crisis Management Abilities.
  • Specific Requirements: Clear health record, Clear criminal record, Clear credit record, Contactable references, MPS / insurance membership and active HPCSA registration.

Benefits:

  • Weekdays: An hourly rate of R536.00
  • Weekends: A daily on-call rate of R1183.00 for Saturday and R1774.00 for Sunday and an additional fee of R178.00 per patient
