Key Responsibilities:
  1. Anesthesia Provision: Administer anesthesia for surgical procedures in accordance with established protocols and patient needs, ensuring patient safety and optimal recovery.
    • Manage anesthesia-related emergencies as they arise.
    • Monitor patients before, during, and after anesthesia to ensure appropriate care.
  2. Emergency Department Coverage (Optional):
    • Provide daytime cover for the emergency department as needed, assessing and managing urgent medical cases.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  3. Clinical Excellence:
    • Uphold high standards of clinical practice and patient safety.
    • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records and procedural details.
    • Participate in continuous professional development activities to stay updated with latest medical advancements.
  4. Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
    • Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings and case discussions.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Medical degree from a recognized institution.
  • Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a General Practitioner.
  • Diploma in Anesthesia (or equivalent qualification) recognized by HPCSA.
  • Proven experience in providing anesthesia services in a hospital setting, preferably in a private hospital environment.
  • Experience or willingness to cover emergency department shifts is advantageous.
