English Teacher for Grade 7

Role PurposeThe English and Social Sciences Teacher for Grade 7 will play a critical role in driving student achievement by maintaining high expectations for classroom culture, behavior, and academic growth. The ideal candidate will be a content specialist with a strong desire to be part of a vibrant and dynamic technology-driven work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver rigorous and engaging lessons in Grade 7 English Home Language and Social Sciences.
- Facilitate learning in online instruction and independent learning spaces.
- Collaborate with grade level and content area partners to improve the quality of learning experiences.
- Implement behavior management strategies and create individualized behavior and learning plans for all scholars.
- Administer and mark weekly and termly formative and summative assessments to track scholar progress and analyze the data for student growth.
- Drive all scholars to meet the required proficiency ratings and submit student results data when required.
- Attend pre-service professional development, weekly professional development, and any other training interventions.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Nurture a high-achieving work environment where all scholars feel genuinely valued and supported.
- Attend Saturday events and parent community meetings when required.
- Implement strategies given by the Crisis Management team and adhere to the child protection, anti-bullying, and health and safety policy.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- degree or PGCE. Senior Phase / FET with an English Home Language specialism
- Certification through the South African Council of Educators (SACE)
- SAQA accreditation for non-South African equivalent qualifications
- Police clearance certificate
- Experience: 1-2 years senior primary or high school teaching experience
