Programme Manager Job Description

Recruitment Matters is seeking an experienced Programme Manager to lead and deliver conservation programme objectives. The successful candidate will oversee the development and implementation of strategic projects, managing cross-functional teams and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning and Management: Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, allocate resources, and manage budgets according to strategic priorities.
  • Organizational Strategic Planning: Contribute to organizational strategic planning and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage cross-functional teams, fostering innovation and professional development within the team.
  • Operations Planning: Compile and manage annual operations plans, ensuring adherence to timelines and risk minimization.
  • Financial Management: Oversee financial management, approve transactions, and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and assess project progress and impact.
  • Risk Management: Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project continuity.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain effective relationships with partners, stakeholders, traditional leaders, and donors.
  • Staff Management: Oversee the recruitment, management, and performance of programme staff.
  • Support to Conservation Director: Provide support to the Conservation Director on project and programme-related matters.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Project Planning and Financial Management: Strong project planning and financial management abilities.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Proven leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Communication and Relationship-Building: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, particularly with stakeholders, donors, and partners.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Conservation Experience: Ability to manage large-scale programmes and institutions in conservation or related fields.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and management software is preferred.
  • Education and Experience: Master's degree in Environmental Studies, Conservation, or a related field. An additional qualification in Business Management or similar is advantageous.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management role focused on Protected Area Management or similar.
