About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Cybersecurity & Digital Information Officer to join our team at Tower Group.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and evaluating potential security risks to our information assets, developing and maintaining information security policies and procedures, and providing cybersecurity training and awareness to our employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in identifying and evaluating potential security risks to our information assets.
  • Develop and maintain information security policies and procedures that align with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Provide cybersecurity training and awareness to our employees.
  • Collaborate with internal and external security providers to ensure that digital information security is integrated into all aspects of our operations.
  • Coordinate service requests and incident response activities with the SOC/SIEM managed service provider.
  • Consult incident response plans and coordinate with relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate activities related to security technologies such as server hardening, firewalls, antivirus, email security, endpoint security, and endpoint management.
  • Perform compliance assessments and vulnerability assessments to ensure the security of our assets and endpoints.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, and POPIA.
  • Create and report on cybersecurity metrics.
  • Ensure adherence to approved security standards.

Requirements

  • A three-year tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of information security practice.
  • Relevant certification on the Microsoft Security Reference Architecture.
  • Working knowledge of information technology security configurations.
  • Experience with endpoint protection and governance processes and standards.

Technical Competencies

  • Proficient as an internal Yellow and Purple Team Champion.
  • Exposure to information system security technical standards.
  • Microsoft: Knowledge of SQL Database Security, MDE, MDI, Intune, Cloud Apps, Azure ATP, Active Directory, and Sentinel SIEM.
  • Knowledge of information security management frameworks.
  • Knowledge of security services and monitoring of systems and services hosted in the cloud.
