Job Title: Senior Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team at Profile Personnel. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for providing financial expertise and guidance to our clients, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and maintaining the highest level of financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and initiate the processing of client information, including cheques, receipts, sales invoices, and purchase invoices.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and process and reconcile Petty Cash and cash control accounts.
  • Keep a fixed asset register and perform general journals, including depreciation, provisions, interest salaries, stock, and other financial transactions.
  • Process journal entries, including new instalment sale agreements, interest on borrowings, provisions, accruals of income and expenses, bad debts, and foreign exchange transactions.
  • Reconcile debtors and creditors statements and correct accounting treatment on disposal of assets and investments.
  • Analyse the resulting trial balance for mistakes or deviations and discuss the results with clients.
  • Produce a draft set of financials and a working paper file for sole proprietors, close corporations, trusts, partnerships, small business corporations, farmers, and Body Corporates.
  • Prepare notes to financial statements and formulate accounting policies.
  • Identify provisions and contingent liabilities and calculate tax liability for sole proprietors, individuals, close corporations, and trusts.
  • Calculate PAYE/UIF/SDL levies and VAT and complete statutory returns, including UIF/SDL/PAYE/VAT.
  • Liaise with clients regarding payment of returns and prepare payroll.
  • Issue IRP5's and IT3's and reconcile to EMP501 at year-end.
  • Reconcile input/output VAT to annual financial statements and monthly trial balances.
  • Compile and discuss monthly management accounts with clients.
  • Record and identify shortcomings in internal controls and account for loans on related parties.
  • Set up accounting systems for clients.
