Job Title: Electrical Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our team at Ultra Personnel. As an Electrical Estimator, you will play a crucial role in identifying and pursuing potential leads for prospective business in the electrical transmission and distribution industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and follow up on potential leads for business opportunities in the electrical transmission and distribution industry.
  • Assist in selecting tenders to pursue based on our relative competitiveness, capabilities, and workload.
  • Coordinate the outputs of our tendering support personnel towards achieving the unit's tendering goals.
  • Prepare and submit tender submissions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Review drawings and technical backup information to be submitted.
  • Direct the drawing office to optimize designs for alternative, more cost-effective solutions.
  • Prepare and follow up on tender clarification submissions.
  • Ensure that tender site meetings are attended and relevant information is fed back for inclusion in tenders.
  • Evaluate technical requirements and assign portions of the scope to various subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Sourcing supplier and subcontractor quotations and following up where necessary.
  • Evaluate conditions of tender/contract and mitigate the company's risk exposure.
  • Prepare and present tender vets for approval purposes.
  • Prepare commercial and technical write-ups on our offer for inclusion in tenders.
  • Prepare B-BBEE responses for tendering purposes.
  • Compile bills of materials.
  • Estimate and prepare accurate schedules of prices.
  • Prepare detailed project programmes and project methodology plan as required per tender specifications.
  • Compile SHEQ responses.
  • Complete technical schedules to detail the parameters of our offer.
  • Participate in contract award negotiations.
  • Work in accordance with ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Compile and submit reports on tendering feedback on a monthly basis.
  • Represent the business unit at the Sales & Marketing Forum.
  • Perform any other ancillary duties that may be reasonably expected by the company, as and when required.
  • Develop best objectives and strategies in preparing and submission of tenders.
Requirements:
  • A recognized tertiary electrical engineering/T3 or equivalent or commercial qualification.
  • Exposure to the electrical engineering industry and, in particular, substations.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years experience working in the Electrical Transmission & Distribution industry is required.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of Estimating and tendering experience (Microsoft Excel based system).
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of Commercial experience.
  • Must have detailed knowledge of internal Group products as well as knowledge of external supplier products.
  • Sound knowledge of General Conditions of the Contracts (FIDIC, NEC, GCC etc).
  • RoE & CPA knowledge.
  • Computer literacy and competent in using MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Project.
  • Good communication skills, writing ability, and assertive business acumen.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Need to be accurate and hard working.
