Job Description

Hedz Recruitment Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Engineering Design Technologist to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Design Work: Support the engineering team on projects to complete design work on time and within budget, providing input and technical guidance to CAD designers, draughters, and lower-level engineers, technologists, and technicians working on the same project.
  • Check and Verify Designs: Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve complex engineering problems, ensuring accuracy and quality in design work.
  • Assist with Proposal Preparation: Assist with the preparation of technical proposals, feasibility studies, options analysis, and master planning, ensuring that proposals meet client expectations and company standards.
  • Manage Design Teams: Manage and direct design teams, acting as a design team leader on identified project components, and liaising with clients to ensure project success.
  • Process Survey and Site Investigation Information: Process and analyze survey and site investigation information, applying general drawing control practices to ensure accuracy and quality in design work.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities and Cost Estimates: Prepare Bills of Quantities, cost estimates, and lifecycle costs, ensuring that financial projections meet client expectations and company standards.
  • Develop and Review Specifications: Develop and review specifications, including design criteria, to ensure that they meet client expectations and company standards.
  • Prepare Procurement Documents: Prepare procurement documents, including tender documents and contract agreements, to ensure that they meet client expectations and company standards.
  • Write Reports and Present Work: Write formal reports and present work professionally, ensuring that communication is clear and concise.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Developments: Develop an understanding of industry codes and standards, client specifications, and client expectations, as well as relevant legislation and regulations, including the HS Act and Construction Regulations and Environmental Management Act.
  • Compile Project Documentation: Compile relevant project documentation, including technical reports and design drawings, to ensure that they meet client expectations and company standards.
  • Analyze and Suggest Solutions: Analyze and suggest solutions to moderately complex problems in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Computer Literacy: Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil Designer, and MS Office.
  • Excellent Planning and Organizing Skills: Demonstrated ability to plan and organize work effectively, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Excellent Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to analyze and solve complex problems, ensuring that solutions meet client expectations and company standards.
  • Good Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage design teams, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Excellent Understanding of Engineering Concepts: Strong understanding of engineering concepts and application of knowledge, ensuring that design work meets client expectations and company standards.
  • Good Understanding of Industry Codes and Standards: Familiarity with industry codes and standards, client specifications, and client expectations, as well as relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Good Understanding of Project Management: Advanced project management skills, including project finance and project administration, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Good Technical Report-Writing Skills: Ability to write clear and concise technical reports, ensuring that communication is effective.
  • Ability to Think Critically and Analytically: Proven ability to think critically and analytically, ensuring that solutions meet client expectations and company standards.
  • Ability to Work Accurately: Demonstrated ability to work accurately, ensuring that design work meets client expectations and company standards.

Salary:
  • Depending on Qualifications and Experience: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Package: R1 200 000 per annum.
