McGregor Museum is seeking a highly skilled Zoologist to join its team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for undertaking original scientific research in the Northern Cape.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in an unusual and stimulating zoological environment. Our team is committed to documenting the biodiversity of the Northern Cape, and we are looking for someone who shares our passion for conservation and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake original scientific research in the Northern Cape to document the region's biodiversity.
  • Disseminate research results through publications and presentations at conferences and workshops.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the zoology collections, including conservation and preservation of specimens.
  • Manage ecological aspects of the Magersfontein Battlefield site.
  • Supervise and manage staff in the Zoology Section and at Magersfontein Museum.
Requirements
  • PhD in Zoology or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent research and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
