SME Fund Coordinator

The Investment Associate will play a key role in driving the achievement of investment goals, customer service, business growth, and client retention objectives. You will be responsible for sourcing deals, assessing their viability, and managing the entire process from origination through to disbursement.
Responsibilities:
- Source potential deals, evaluate their feasibility, and prepare submission reports for the credit committee.
- Prepare submissions for Due Diligence approval, compile Due Diligence work plans, negotiate lending project term sheets, and structure deals under the supervision of the Investment Principal.
- Conduct technical research and provide input on deal structures after Due Diligence approval.
- Manage transactions from application to final approval, ensuring timely processing and high standards of accountability.
- Establish and manage relationships with clients, financial institutions, sector players, and other counterparties for deal sourcing.
- Develop innovative structured finance solutions to meet client needs.
- Analyze financial outcomes, define pricing strategies, and assess the development impact.
- Negotiate terms with internal and external stakeholders and manage the collection of project documents.
- Ensure clear communication with clients once deals are approved.
Requirements:
- At least 3 years in SME funding, deal making, investment environments, business banking, venture capital, and/or development finance.
- 3 years' experience in managing an SME portfolio.
- Solid understanding of the investment process, particularly in SME funding.
- Knowledge of investment instruments and deal structures for SME portfolios.
- Familiarity with commercial statutes and regulations (e.g. Tax, Companies Act, BEE legislation).
- Ability to conduct desktop analysis, risk assessments, and prepare compelling written recommendations.
- Proficient in analyzing and interpreting financial statements.
- Experience in due diligence appraisals.
- Ability to generate deal flow through personal networks.
- PC literacy and competency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Credit control and collections experience.
Education:
- B. Com Degree (Finance, Accounting, Agricultural Economics, Business Economics).
- Experience in deal structuring and implementation.
- Financial modelling and business valuation methodologies (preferred).
- CA and/or MBA with an agricultural/acquisition transaction background is a plus.
Package Offered: R600K – R800K per annum, total cost to company, depending on qualifications and experience.
