Afrifocus Securities invites applications from experienced Financial Accountants to fill a key role in our financial department. The successful candidate will oversee the financial function of our stockbroker entity in Sandton, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Implementing and maintaining effective accounting procedures and computer application systems
  • Preparing and presenting detailed financial reports to managerial staff, highlighting key trends and recommendations
  • Ensuring adherence to financial regulatory requirements, including those of the JSE and other relevant authorities
  • Strategically managing cash flows, bank reports, and taxation obligations
  • Overseeing the annual audit process, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions
  • Negotiating favorable terms with creditors, ensuring timely payments
  • Reviewing and ensuring adequate insurance coverage, minimizing risk
  • Maintaining a deep understanding of business and financial management principles, informing strategic decisions
  • Contributing to organisational growth through strategic initiatives and projects

Required qualifications and skills include:

B Comm (Finance) or Equivalent /or/ Diploma in Finance with relevant experience

Desirable skills and qualifications include:

  • Strong stockbroking knowledge, preferably JSE BDA system experience
  • Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax regulations, and industry-specific legislation
  • Significant tenure and experience in a senior financial leadership position
