About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Portfolio Management Specialist to join our dynamic team at The Recruitment Council. As a key member of our Investment Management Team, you will be responsible for supporting Portfolio Managers in managing client investment portfolios.

Key Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Management: Ensure proper take-on of new clients, collecting relevant information and liaising with client service teams.
  • Conduct suitability assessments of clients and analyze their financial affairs.
  • Prepare new client reviews and proposals, taking into account their specific situation and agreed mandate.
  • Develop and implement client implementation plans, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Maintain and update client lists, provide tax statements when requested, and calculate expected capital gains tax.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts using expected investment returns and cash needs.
  • Ongoing monitoring of client portfolios, preparing trade recommendations and rebalancing portfolios as necessary.
  • Attend client meetings, prepare meeting packs, notes, and minutes.
  • Provide feedback to general client queries and ad-hoc investment analysis requests.
  • Review and reconcile client reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare quarterly commentary on client portfolios, highlighting key performance indicators.
  • Assist with any ad-hoc requests and general administration involved in maintaining client portfolios and files.
Trading and Execution Support
  • Ensure all trades are executed accurately and timeously, investigating any trading queries.
Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure client files are properly set up and maintained, adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Verify that clients adhere to approved fund manager lists, asset allocation targets, and limits.
  • Maintain a record of client advice, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or a related field, preferably with honors.
  • Investment-related postgraduate qualification (or studying towards) such as CFP or CFA advantageous.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in the finance/investment industry.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong general investment knowledge, including economy, financial markets, asset classes, and portfolio management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A track record of overall integrity, with strong attention to detail.
  • Good relationship management skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
