Fashion Editor Job Description

The ideal candidate has a passion for media and producing outstanding conceptual editorial content across fashion titles. Key Responsibilities:
  • Trend research and leading editorial brainstorm sessions to drive innovative content creation.
  • Manage the editorial process of fashion magazines from concept through to end product, ensuring seamless execution and high-quality output.
  • Proofread, edit, and write articles to meet publication standards, showcasing exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Ensure all work produced is consistent and on-brand, upholding the highest standards of quality and creativity.
  • Review, approve, and sign-off page proofs before they go to press, guaranteeing accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Manage writing staff and freelance content producers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Oversee photography, design, and artwork to be used in the publication, ensuring visual cohesion and aesthetic appeal.
  • Meet with writers and designers to discuss features, layouts, and artwork, driving creative vision and editorial direction.
  • Comply with media law and industry regulations, maintaining a deep understanding of the ever-evolving landscape.
  • Commission and send regular briefs to freelance writers, nurturing relationships and securing high-quality content.
  • Network actively at industry events, staying ahead of the curve and building connections that drive business growth.
Key Requirements:
  • A tertiary qualification in journalism, marketing, or communications, demonstrating a strong foundation in the field.
  • At least 3-5 years' experience in print and digital production, showcasing a proven track record of success.
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign, highlighting proficiency in design and layout software.
  • A creative and innovative personality, driving fresh ideas and perspectives.
  • The ability to work under pressure and have lots of energy and drive, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Great organisational skills, deadline-driven, and the ability to manage time well, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Strong writing, editing, and interpersonal skills, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
  • Ability to nurture long-term relationships with key publication influencers, building trust and securing high-quality content.
  • A natural leader who displays strong decision-making and attention to detail, driving results and achieving goals.
  • Ability to understand and influence target audiences, crafting content that resonates and drives engagement.
  • A self-starter who enjoys working in a team, but can work independently, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility.
  • The ability to multi-task with high attention to detail, juggling multiple projects and deadlines with ease.
  • A keen interest and understanding of pop culture, tech trends, and the tech industry, staying ahead of the curve and driving innovation.
