Explosive Operations Coordinator

The purpose of this job is to support the mining services team objectives and business imperatives by providing efficient coaching and advice to customers on the application of explosives products while enhancing the customer/supplier relationship.

Duties:

  • Comply with all customer rules and procedures when operating at customer sites.
  • Assist the Explosives Controller to conduct routine fault finding, trouble shooting, maintenance, and repairs on the MMU process plant and chassis.
  • Assist the Site Administrator with stock control.
  • Load and unload the MMU with the correct raw materials.
  • Unload raw materials (emulsion Matrix and Expan tankers).
  • Clean and decontaminate the MMU.
  • Identify any abnormal conditions on the MMU and within the work area and report them to the Explosives Controller and/or Site Supervisor.
  • Maintain ownership of bulk explosives MMU by conducting good housekeeping of the cab, chassis, and plant.
  • Minimize and clean up any raw material spillage and dispose of any spillage in the correct waste streams.
  • Ensure correct PPE is in good condition and is correctly worn at all times.
  • Housing work areas.
  • Identify workplace hazards and associated risks and deal with them appropriately (Hirac & Risk Assessment).
  • Comply with the mine's safety and health procedures.
  • Attend mine induction training.
  • Maintain basic safety, health, and environment issues.
  • Assess product application practices.
  • Identify incorrect product application practices.
  • Demonstrate and coach the correct practices.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum requirement is Grade 12.
  • 1-2 years experience in mining or similar environments is necessary.
  • Possession of a valid Code C Driver's license is required.

Benefits:

  • The estimated salary for this position is R250,000 per annum.
