RINA is currently seeking a Senior Marine Surveyor to join our team in the Marine South East Europe & MEA Region Division.

Role Overview

The Senior Marine Surveyor is a highly skilled professional responsible for applying extensive knowledge of maritime regulations and industry standards. This role is crucial in maintaining the precision, quality, and ongoing enhancement of surveying practices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Expertise in Maritime Regulations:
- Serve as a subject matter expert, utilizing comprehensive understanding of maritime laws and industry standards.
- Stay updated on industry advancements and propose modifications to surveying protocols and safety measures.
2. Survey Execution and Documentation:
- Perform regular inspections on classified vessels, offshore platforms, or marine infrastructures to verify adherence to classification and legal standards.
- Generate accurate and timely reports detailing inspection findings.
3. Documentation Management:
- Organize and maintain survey documentation in a systematic and current manner within the assigned responsibilities.
4. Leadership and Project Coordination:
- Strategically plan, schedule, and oversee various surveying tasks.
- Ensure service quality by providing mentorship and direction to junior surveyors.
5. Client Engagement:
- Collaborate with clients to address issues within the area of expertise.
- Foster client satisfaction through effective communication and problem resolution.
6. Training and Mentorship:
- Offer guidance and training to junior surveyors, enhancing their skills and knowledge.
- Contribute to the professional development of the surveying team.
7. Quality Control:
- Supervise the work and projects undertaken by subordinate surveyors, ensuring quality and consistency in deliverables.
8. Innovative Problem Solving:
- Suggest new methodologies for addressing challenges and initiate necessary changes in operational procedures.
- Actively participate in the evolution and improvement of surveying techniques.
9. Ethical Standards:
- Maintain the highest ethical standards in all professional interactions, ensuring integrity and fairness in surveying activities.

Educational Background

A Master's Degree in Naval Engineering is required.

Required Qualifications


• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Surveyor.

• Familiarity with RINA's strategic technical positioning in the marine sector or at least 7 years of experience in engineering or inspection/surveying with an IACS member Classification Society.

• Proficient in English, suitable for classification, statutory certification, and related services.

• Ability to comprehend RINA's Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and safety policies.

• Understanding of engineering plans and knowledge of shipbuilding practices.

• Competence in conducting new building surveys, including:
− Assessing the suitability of certified materials for new constructions,
− Ensuring compliance of hull, machinery, and equipment with regulations through inspections and trials,
− Identifying deficiencies and determining necessary repairs or recommendations,
− Issuing Certificates, Reports, and Records in accordance with regulations.

• Experience in conducting in-service surveys, including:
− Evaluating and monitoring repair works to assign new Class periods and validity to statutory Certificates,
− Attending major conversion projects as per regulations,
− Identifying deficiencies and determining necessary actions,
− Issuing Certificates and Reports in compliance with regulations.

• Knowledge of ship engineering systems and machinery.

• Familiarity with relevant software and technical interfaces required for project collaboration.
