Job Title: Technical Procurement Buyer

We are seeking a skilled Technical Procurement Buyer to join our team at Kontak Recruitment. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing high-quality components and materials for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers to meet our clients' design parameters and quality standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and competitive pricing.
  • Analyze and evaluate supplier performance regularly to ensure compliance with ISO9001 standards.
  • Source regional suppliers for installation support, water deliveries, and other necessary components.
  • Collaborate with the order placer to select the most suitable supplier for each project.
  • Acquire necessary authority to place orders and communicate with suppliers.
  • Track supplier lead times and share with the stores team to ensure efficient inventory management.
  • Obtain multiple quotes where possible and select suppliers that meet our clients' objectives.
  • Monitor the movement of warranty stock between suppliers and the company.
  • Communicate professionally with all suppliers and treat them with dignity and respect.
Requirements:
  • National Diploma in Supply Chain Management or similar.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a buying role within the manufacturing industry and project environments.
  • Experience sourcing suppliers and parts in African countries.
  • Knowledge in Water components and Electrical components.
  • Excellent knowledge in ISO9001 standards.
  • Strong numeracy and financial acumen.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Assertiveness and strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favourable terms and pricing.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Analytical skills to assess market trends, supplier performance, and cost analysis.
  • Proactive and resourceful.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Pastel Accounting.
  • Excellent knowledge in Procurement policies and procedures.
  • Quality control procedures with a working knowledge of ISO9001.
  • Supply chain fundamentals, including inventory management, lead times, and distribution channels.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to quality.
  • Highly organized, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Trustworthy and ethical in supplier interactions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Resilient and adaptable to handle changing priorities and urgent requests.
