Job Title: Operations/Warehouse Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Operations/Warehouse Manager to join our team at Staff Solutions Recruitment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations management, with a proven track record of success in managing multiple departments and teams.

Key Responsibilities:Finance and Business Management
  • Develop and manage the operational budget, with a focus on cost management and financial control.
  • Authorize expenditure within authority levels and assist with operational budget inputs.
  • Participate in monthly billing and sign off on invoicing.
  • Manage claims and human resources, including appointments, employee relations, discipline, training, and career planning.
  • Implement and review SLA agreements to maintain or improve profitability.
Operational and Technical Management
  • Manage technical queries and verify, amend, and update SOPs to ensure effective warehouse, project, and client management.
  • Continually improve and enhance technical service offerings and manage health and safety, client compliance, and overall compliance by staff.
Client Management, Sales, and Business Development
  • Communicate and meet with clients as required and manage adherence to client and service provider SLAs.
  • Oversee operational service delivery and client satisfaction, check and approve costings, and assist with quote preparation.
  • Investigate client complaints and prepare reports accordingly and prepare and manage business development plans to expand the client base and market footprint.
Human Resources
  • Conduct performance appraisals for immediate subordinates and manage absenteeism, overtime, and access control.
  • Ensure adherence to company IR process and initiate and chair disciplinary enquiries as required.
  • Identify and address training needs through the workplace skills plan and ensure updates are placed on notice boards.
  • Motivate staff and coordinate all staff functions, review employee potential and growth plans, and encourage employee development.
  • Identify and assist with retaining high-flyers.
Risk Management
  • Maintain operational legal compliance and conduct daily management walkabouts to ensure compliance.
  • Convene daily operations discussions with departmental heads and review stock take/cycle count reports and sign off and report on discrepancies.
  • Conduct regular meetings with key suppliers to maintain good relationships and implement and maintain SLAs with key suppliers and measure compliance with SLAs every month.
  • Chair monthly safety meetings as required and ensure that all departments are operating at optimal levels and that customer SLAs are being adhered to.
  • Ensure that the operation adheres to licensing and permit requirements and manage and coordinate response to incidents on site as required.
  • Manage and coordinate emergency drills and ensure all incidents are reported immediately, chair incident investigations, and assist with compiling incident reports.
Requirements:
  • Proven work experience as an Operations Manager or similar role.
  • Minimum three years of chemical industry-related experience will be advantageous.
  • Degree in Business, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Knowledge of organisational effectiveness and operations management.
  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting, familiarity with business and financial principles, and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in inventory management, staff management, leadership ability, and understanding of Syspro and Pastel Accounting programmes will be advantageous.
  • Valid, unendorsed driver's license.
