About the Role:

In this permanent position, you will be responsible for manufacturing moulds and tools used in our company's production processes. You will work closely with the Injection Moulding Team Leader to ensure that all projects are manufactured and assembled according to drawing specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manufacture moulds and tools according to drawing specifications and quality standards.
  2. Perform sample trials of tools to ensure correct mouldings and make repairs as necessary.
  3. Set up machines and processing equipment to specified requirements.
  4. Optimise manufacturing processes to reduce tooling costs.
  5. Maintain general housekeeping in accordance with departmental standards.
Inspection and Maintenance:
  1. Inspect equipment daily and perform repairs as needed.
  2. Report on equipment condition weekly.
  3. Interpret deviations and rectify them accordingly.
  4. Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance in line with OHS regulations, quality standards, and maintenance procedures.
Compliance:
  1. Ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
  2. Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by legislation.
  3. Maintain a quality management system in the work area in accordance with departmental standards.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years' experience in a post-apprenticeship role.

Skills and Competencies:
  1. Demonstrate attention to detail, good communication skills, innovation, and quality and safety orientation.
Knowledge and Skills:

The successful candidate should possess good knowledge of CAD/CAM, CNC Code, and MS Office Suite.

Equipment Knowledge:

Show a working knowledge of milling, turning, grinding, electrical plunge sparking, and other tool room machines.

Draughting Knowledge:

Be able to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Mechanical Knowledge:

Have basic knowledge of precise measuring devices and instruments, and display understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Product Knowledge:

Understand the properties and characteristics of metals and other materials used for moulds and tools.

Qualification:

A Matric certificate plus a Trade Certificate in Tool & Die-Making is essential.
