Job Title: Lead Electrical Engineer

At The Legends Agency, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for leading electrical engineering projects from conception to completion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and mentor junior electrical engineers and draughtspeople to ensure high-quality designs and projects.
  • Design and develop electrical systems, equipment, and facilities for commercial and industrial purposes, using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools.
  • Plan and implement research methodologies and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
  • Collect and analyze data, perform calculations, and prepare diagrams and drawings of electrical installations and circuitry.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide preliminary drawings and samples for selection and approval.
  • Ensure that completed works meet specifications, safety standards, and customer requirements.
  • Estimate labor, material, and construction costs, and prepare specifications for the purchase of materials and equipment.
  • Attend site meetings and supervise the installation, startup, operation, and maintenance of electrical plants.
  • Perform project management tasks for electrical engineering projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Produce design calculations, sketch drawings, and details of drawings using relevant software, including checking and reviewing these prior to issue.
  • Assist the project manager in preparing and reviewing project costs, risk assessments, and other project-related documents.
  • Represent The Legends Agency on factory acceptance tests and site testing and commissioning activities.
  • Communicate project status to internal directors and external stakeholders (clients) on an ad-hoc and formal basis.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or a recognized professional body as a professional engineer.
  • Experience in managing a team of junior and senior employees.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in engineering design, management, and construction.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in performing electrical/mechanical design.
  • Extensive experience in design and construction of steel water pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, abstraction works, and water treatment plants.
  • Knowledge of labor and employment laws, OHS Act, design compliance standards, and quality management principles.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and various civil and water design software.
  • Driver's license is essential.
