About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Instrumentation Engineer to join our team at Lycopodium Limited. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing control and instrumentation systems for our global projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop control and instrumentation systems using digital design tools and techniques.
  • Generate and compile engineering specifications, lists, and drawings using database-driven design tools.
  • Develop instrumentation drawings and templates that meet industry standards and company procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver drawing deliverables, including block diagrams, termination drawings, loop diagrams, hookup diagrams, schematics, and general arrangement drawings.
  • Assist with the preparation of study and EPCM documentation.
  • Review and evaluate vendor equipment and certified documentation.
  • Provide material quantity take-offs and assist with on-site engineering, commissioning, and administration activities.
  • Manage databases and conduct literature surveys.
  • Prepare and issue meeting minutes as requested.
Requirements
  • Tertiary level qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in digital instrumentation design and implementation.
  • Professional Registration advantageous.
  • South African Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Solid technical aptitude, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft software packages, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven experience in using database-driven design tools such as Siemens COMOS, DesSoft, Intools, or Bentley Instrumentation and Wiring.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work efficiently in a team and knowledge-sharing environment.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and a practical approach to solving engineering problems.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment.
  • Demonstrate a strict practice of confidentiality, personal responsibility, and discretion.
  • High degree of professional ethics.
