Electrical Manager Position

SA Steelworks is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Manager to join our team at our Airport Industria, Cape Town branch. The successful candidate will provide technical support to the Electrical Department and report to the Divisional Director.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, install, and commission new electrical systems to ensure efficient plant operations.
  • Conduct regular reviews of electrical installations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) systems to minimize downtime and ensure safety.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of instrumentation and control systems, including temperature, pressure, and flow measurement.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and advancements in electrical systems, including variable-speed drives (VSDs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and industrial networks.
  • Maintain accurate service records of electrical equipment and ensure that all work is compliant with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations and company policies.
  • Supervise and mentor electricians to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Compile comprehensive root cause analysis (RCA) reports to identify and address electrical system issues.
  • Improve plant safety standards by identifying and mitigating electrical hazards.
  • Ensure the effective use of resources and schedule maintenance activities to minimize downtime and optimize plant performance.
Requirements:
  • National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or higher (NQF6 or higher).
  • At least 8 years of relevant working plant experience in electrical engineering.
  • Ability to work in a pressurized and demanding environment.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and ability to work within a team.
