RS Recruitment Services is assisting a leading retail hardware company to recruit a New Business Development Manager to be based at their offices in South Africa.

Our client has been in business for over 30 years and is part of a group of 350 retail stores across the region.

The primary goal of this position is to identify new business opportunities by facilitating the entry of new stores into the group.

To achieve this, the ideal candidate will have/be the following:

  • A National Senior Certificate (Matric) and a relevant business-related tertiary qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience specific to the FMCG retail industry.
  • Experience in the building/hardware industry would be an advantage.
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of local property and retail development markets.
  • Firm understanding of financial statements, particularly cash flow statements and financing options.
  • Ability to undertake and interpret financial feasibility studies.
  • Strong negotiating skills and a thorough knowledge of leasing and contracts.
  • Ability to interpret demographic data.
Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading the regional team in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Ensuring the group has a strong presence in the property development industry.
  • Evaluating prospective sites on macro and micro levels.
  • Presenting selected sites to the Regional Committee for membership approval.
  • Finalizing lease agreements and securing selected sites for development.
  • Interviewing and evaluating prospective retailers, including cost analysis of setting up.
  • Oversight of facilitation of the sale of existing stores.
  • Developing a growth strategy in line with the regional retail operations strategy to drive business growth.
  • Providing leadership to retailers in new business development.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Developing and growing a network of sustainable retail stores and members.
  • Implementation of Best Operating Procedures.
  • Managing the corporate identity of the brand.
Remuneration

The salary for this position is estimated to be around R66,000 per annum, inclusive of a car allowance of R21,000 and medical aid and provident fund benefits.
