Job Summary

The Nelson Mandela University (NMU) Business School is seeking a visionary Director to lead its strategic positioning and academic excellence. As the executive head of the Business School, you will be responsible for driving innovation, research, and commercialization, while ensuring the overall quality of academic programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Business School's strategic plan, aligning with NMU's vision and mission.
  • Oversee the academic leadership and management of the Business School, including directing learning and teaching processes and ensuring quality of academic programs.
  • Drive research and innovation initiatives, implementing the Business School's research strategy and ensuring quality of research outputs.
  • Lead the commercialization of the Business School's knowledge base and programs, ensuring their relevance and quality.
  • Optimize human resources, leading and managing Academic and Administrative Staff to ensure optimal deployment.
  • Develop and execute successful marketing strategies for academic programs, building and maintaining internal and external relationships and partnerships.
  • Ensure stewardship and optimization of financial and other resources.
  • Conceptualize, lead, and manage the Internationalization strategy and processes for the Business School.
  • Oversight of viable student access and success measures.
  • Enable and advance economic viability and sustainability of the Business School.
Requirements
  • A relevant Doctoral qualification plus at least 7 years relevant senior management experience, of which a minimum of 5 years has been in an academic leadership role in the higher educational environment with an emphasis at a postgraduate level.
  • An in-depth knowledge of trends of learning and development in business and executive education at a higher educational level nationally and internationally.
  • Must be an established academic leader with excellence in a relevant academic discipline, both from a learning and teaching as well as a research perspective, including research publications, which would preferably warrant appointment at at least at an associate professorial level.
  • Commercial/corporate business experience and acumen will be an added advantage.
