As part of this initiative, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) specializing in Oracle and MS SQL Server to join our team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance tuning of our databases, ensuring the availability, integrity, and security of our data.

This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of database technologies.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and Implementation: Design and implement databases, including Oracle and MS SQL Server.
  • Maintenance and Performance Tuning: Perform routine maintenance tasks and optimize database performance.
  • Backup and Recovery: Develop, manage, and test backup and recovery plans.
  • Security: Ensure data integrity and security through implementation of best practices for database management.
  • Policies and Procedures: Develop and enforce policies and procedures for database management.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configuration, processes, and procedures.
  • Replication: Manage and maintain database replication.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in information science or computer science or a related field.

Work Experience:

Essential:

  1. Expert-level experience as an Oracle DBA, with extensive knowledge of SQL Server.
  2. Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
  3. Strong knowledge of database security practices, tools, and procedures.
  4. Proven experience in database installation, configuration, upgrading, and patch management.
  5. Strong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, and other scripting languages.
  6. Experience with database replication.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  9. Experience in the design and delivery of enterprise-grade highly available solutions.
  10. Strong communication and documentation skills.

Desirable:

  1. Some knowledge of other common database and caching technologies.
  2. Exposure to iterative/agile development methodologies.
