Job Description

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Food Auditor to join our team in Cape Town. As a key member of our quality assurance team, you will be responsible for conducting thorough audits of food establishments to ensure compliance with legal and client-specific requirements.

You will evaluate food handling, preparation, storage, and sanitation practices, as well as verify that food establishments adhere to established food safety and hygiene guidelines, HACCP principles, and industry standards.

Your responsibilities will also include preparing detailed reports based on inspections and audits, outlining findings, non-compliances, and recommended corrective actions.

Main Accountabilities
  • Conduct regular on-site inspections of various food establishments, including restaurants, food processing facilities, retail stores, and other food-related premises.
  • Evaluate food handling, preparation, storage, and sanitation practices to ensure compliance with legal and client-specific requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to food businesses to help them improve their food safety and hygiene practices.
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, B.Tech or National Diploma in Food Science, Food Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • Understanding of the requirements of R638 from the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act 54 of 1972, and Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and regulations.
  • 1 year Food Safety or Occupational Health and Safety experience in an inspection, verification, or related capacity.
  • Proven experience in conducting food safety inspections, audits, or related roles within the food industry.
