About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee our on-site activities at our mining operations in North West, Rustenburg. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electronics and mining operations, ensuring that all electronic systems and equipment function efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and coordinate the activities of the teams on site.
  2. Ensure the proper installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic systems and equipment used in mining operations.
  3. Conduct site and system surveys prior to installation and quoting to ensure standards and timelines are met.
  4. Minimize damage to installed equipment through careful placement of units.
  5. Ensure wiring and installation comply electrically and mechanically.
  6. Continuously seek better placement of equipment to improve range and coverage of the warning field.
  7. Conduct site visits to assess and promptly fix problems.
  8. Ensure the team responds quickly to reported failures and carries out timely repairs.
  9. Supervise the team to thoroughly test equipment, analyse faults, and ensure conformance to installation manual specifications.
  10. Ensure repairs and parts are ordered promptly to rectify faults.
  11. Provide written feedback on failures and suggested improvements to management.
  12. Compile reports for audits requested by mines and complete required administration (service reports, timesheets, and COCs).
  13. Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  14. Conduct regular inspections and audits of equipment and systems to identify and address any issues or potential hazards.
  15. Coordinate with management to develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  16. Maintain accurate records of site activities, including daily reports, equipment logs, and maintenance records.
  17. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to electronic systems and equipment.
  18. Provide training and support to site personnel on the proper use and maintenance of electronic systems.
  19. Ensure efficient allocation and utilization of resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
  20. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to promote continuous improvement.
  21. Participate in site meetings and provide regular updates to management on project progress and any issues that arise.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and/or Electrical Trade (Red seal)
  • 3-5 years of experience in a technician role within the mining industry.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory role (advantage)
  • Computer literate in relevant software and tools for project management and reporting.
  • Own Transport, valid driver's license, and the ability to travel to remote mining sites as required.

Salary and Benefits:

The estimated annual salary for this position is R750 000 - R900 000, depending on experience. Benefits include medical aid, retirement fund, and paid leave.
