We are seeking a highly skilled Business Development Manager to join our team at Accounting and Financial Advisory. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research and consulting, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
About the Role
- Research and Development: Develop and maintain relationships with local industry and government departments, as well as international organizations within relevant sectors.
- Data Management: Develop and maintain a database of Wits Academics/Researchers and their areas of expertise.
- Marketing and Promotion: Promote Wits expertise and resources to key clients requiring research and consulting services.
- Tender Sourcing: Source research and consulting opportunities using tender bulletins, funding portals, and direct solicitation.
- Budgeting and Proposal Development: Develop budgets for research and consulting proposals/quotations/bids and submission of proposals, quotations, and competitive bid applications.
- Project Implementation: Ensure that successful applications are negotiated, approved, and contracted before handing over to project management team who oversee project implementation.
Requirements
- A tertiary qualification (NQF 8)
- At least 5 years working experience in one or more of research/consulting/research management/pre-award support/consulting business development/project management/corporate social investment
- Desirable Experience and Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification (NQF 9/Master's Degree or NQF 10/PhD)
- 8 years working experience in one or more of research/research management/consulting business development/pre-award support/project management/corporate social investment
- Demonstrated experience in securing research funding and/or consulting contracts
- An additional qualification in Marketing/Legal/Business or Business Management
- Experience in or working with one or more of the following sectors: Mining, Energy, ICT, Environment, Education, Applied Sciences, Social Sciences, Business Sciences, Monitoring & Evaluation, all levels of government, SETA's and other government agencies
