About the Role

The Product Owner is a key member of our team at Old Mutual, responsible for ensuring the delivery of our business strategy. This role requires a strong understanding of our products and services, as well as the ability to work closely with our teams to drive delivery that meets consumer needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with our teams to break down business requirements into actionable stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure alignment between work delivered and business owner expectations.
  • Provide input into our vision and strategy, while working closely with our Business Owners to ensure alignment.
  • Understand and remove impediments to team performance, communicating risks effectively to stakeholders.
  • Continuously build and maintain a backlog of solution features.
  • Ensure that backlogs and product team roadmaps are visible, transparent, and clear to all.
  • Communicate and align with other Product Owners when inter-team dependencies and trade-offs are required.
  • Make day-to-day decisions that guide the team's delivery.
Requirements
  • Matric qualification.
  • Relevant IT or business-related diploma/degree.
  • Foundational Agile certification.
  • Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO I) certification.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Product Ownership, Business Analysis, software delivery, software engineering, or project management.
  • Knowledge of Agile ways of working and approaches like Scrum, Kanban, Scaled Agile (SAFe) etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in using tracking and collaboration tools such as Jira, Miro, or TFS.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience with typically used Agile techniques such as User Story mapping, ATDD, TDD, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in using tracking and collaboration tools such as Jira, Miro, or TFS.
  • Understanding of the value of team metrics and ability to ask them to be tracked to drive team performance.
  • Stakeholder Management, Negotiation & Communication Skills.
  • Ability to lead through influence within and across teams in achieving the product vision.
  • Role-specific certifications advantageous.
