Job Title: Market Intelligence Analyst & NPD Coordinator (FMCG)

Commercial

Job Purpose

  1. To analyze and interpret internal and external data to build compelling stories that highlight areas of opportunity and threat for the company, driving market intelligence and sustainable growth in brand equity, sales volume, market share, competitive advantage, and corporate reputation.
  2. To play a key role in coordinating the new product development process across all Private Label and Distributors brands, ensuring timely delivery and effective project management.

Key Accountabilities and Outputs

  1. Market Data Management
  • Compile, analyze, and present sales, market share, and market data to internal and external customers.
  • Share market knowledge and insights with stakeholders, driving business decisions and growth.
  • Coordinate monthly reports and internal reporting, ensuring timely and accurate data delivery.
  • Manage product distribution and availability, ensuring seamless execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Compile monthly price survey tracking with regions, identifying trends and opportunities.
  • Manage outsourced syndicated data service providers, ensuring ROI and optimal performance.
  • Drive analysis of consumer, category, and customer information to develop compelling business recommendations, driving growth and revenue.
  • Market data includes:
    • Internal Sales Data
    • Nielsen scan data (including PFM channel)
    • Nielsen Consumer Panel data
    • Massmart data via Tableau
    • BMi Data
    • Executrac
    • Other ad-hoc sources of external data
  1. Trade Marketing Support & Administration
  • Coordinate trade marketing activities and tools, monthly reports, and internal reporting, ensuring seamless execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Support Trade Marketing with day-to-day tasks, including:
    • Listings & Speed to Market measurement
    • Development of Pricing Strategy
    • Share of Voice reporting
    • Portfolio Analysis
    • Customer Review development
    • Development & Refining of In-Trade Execution Guidelines
  • Develop Trade Toolkits, inclusive of NPD Trade Presenters, driving business growth and revenue.
  • Derive Consumer and Shopper Propositions through insight and category analysis, driving business decisions and growth.
  • Coordinate all POS requirements for specific campaigns related to channel plans by brand, ensuring seamless execution and customer satisfaction.
  1. NPD Project Coordination & Process Management
  • Coordinate all new product development projects across (a) all Private Label brands, and (b) the external portfolio, ensuring timely delivery and effective project management.
  • Ensure all NPD team members are clear on the status of each project, as well as the actions required to deliver projects on time.
  • Internal communication around NPD projects, ensuring production plants are clear on requirements, and managing project master data.
  • Prepare all data required for Gate Documents, driving business decisions and growth.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree (3 years) / NQF level 7
  • Previous experience in working with scan data (Nielsen/IRI) essential
  • Strong analytical skills & attention to detail
  • Understanding of FMCG trade
  • Collaborates internally and externally
  • Developed IT and presentation skills
