About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Afrikaans Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) / Video Remote Interpreters (VRI) to join our team at Future Group Translation and Localization Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate communication between non-English and English speakers during calls as an interpreter.
  • Analyze industry-specific vocabulary, particularly in healthcare and medical fields.
  • Render all messages accurately and completely without adding, omitting, or substituting content.
  • Foster exceptional customer service during interpreting sessions.
  • Cultivate effective communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and clients by delivering precise interpretations.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through internal training and certifications.
  • Maintain open communication with team leaders and adhere to dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.
Requirements
  • Fluency in source language (English) and native proficiency in target language 'Afrikaans.'
  • At least 1 year of experience in over-the-phone interpretation within a reputable company.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and familiarity with legal terminology is advantageous.
  • Possession of international certifications in the healthcare industry, such as PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc., is beneficial.
  • High school diploma in the native language.
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence, tolerance for diverse cultures, and strong communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills.
Technical Requirements
  • A reliable, high-speed, private, and secured internet connection with a minimum download speed of 10 Mbps and upload speed of 5 Mbps.
  • A wired internet connection via Ethernet port (Wi-Fi is not permitted).
  • A computer with a dual-core processor (Intel Core i5 or higher), Windows 10 operating system, and 8 GB RAM memory.
  • A single device capable of running required systems (no external devices allowed).
  • A noise-cancelling, wired headset with a built-in microphone for video remote interpreting (Bluetooth and wireless headsets are not permitted).
